Tip #4. It Takes 3 Weeks To Make A Habit

Added: 6/7/2007 9:34:06 AM

Yes, buiding a habit takes some time, but 3 weeks will be definitely enough for building basic early wake up habit. We don't feel comfortable committing to waking up early on every day till the end of your life. It's kind of commitment which is extremely hard to give! What you need to do is commit yourself to wake up early for 3 weeks. That's all. You know that on 22nd day you may sleep for as long as you want. Guess what? After 3 weeks, you will not want to sleep any longer!

Once you make it a habit, it's easy to follow. It's easy because you know you don't have a lifetime commitment and you can break it should you feel like it. It works great with previous tip - give a promise to someone you're going to get up at 6am for next 3 weeks. Even if you decide it's not something you'd like to do for a long time, you still can manage to do it for 3 weeks.

But the best thing about making it a habit is that you will be able to wake up without an alarm clock...

I would say that 3 weeks sound about right, this allows the body and mind to adjust to a sleep pattern. I always wake up around 8.00am every day as my body is already in a routine.
